    Tizanidine Hydrochloride 4 mg is a prescription medication that requires a valid prescription to obtain the medication.
     
    Tizanidine hydrochloride is used to relax stiff muscles caused by:
    Painful muscle spasms associated with fixed and functional disorders of the spine (cervical and lumbar syndromes)
    Or after surgery (such as osteoarthritis of the hip, a joint disease that affects the hip, or a herniated disc).
    Spasticity (muscle stiffness and tightness) caused by neurological problems such as multiple sclerosis (a disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord),
    Chronic myelopathy (injury to the spinal cord), degenerative diseases of the spinal cord, cerebrovascular accidents (such as stroke),
    Cerebral palsy (a group of permanent movement disorders that begins in early childhood).
     
    Do not take tizanidine hydrochloride:
    If you are allergic to tizanidine hydrochloride or any of the ingredients in this medicine. Tell your doctor about your allergies and signs.
    If you suffer from severe liver impairment.
    if you are taking medicines known as strong CYP1A2 inhibitors (eg fluvoxamine or ciprofloxacin). Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
     
    Warnings and precautions:
    Stop taking the medicine immediately and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you develop allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, rash, swelling of the face or neck, low blood pressure, and dizziness.
    It is not recommended to take other medicines known as CYP1A2 inhibitors (eg amiodarone, propafenone, mexiletine, rofecoxib, cimetidine, some fluoroquinolones, oral contraceptives and ticlopidine) with this medicine.
    Talk to your doctor before starting this medication if you are taking other medications. Some medicines may interact with tizanidine and may cause QT prolongation (a type of irregular heartbeat).
    This medicine may cause low blood pressure which could lead to severe symptoms such as loss of consciousness and collapse of the circulation.
