What are the indications for the use of indapamide?
Indapamide can be used to treat high blood pressure. It can be used alone or in combination with other medications for high blood pressure.
Most diuretics increase the amount of urine excreted by the kidneys. However, indapamide differs from other diuretics, in that it causes only a slight increase in the amount of urine produced. In addition, indapamide dilates the blood vessels so that blood passes more easily. This helps lower blood pressure.

Do not take indapamide:
• If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to indapamide, any other sulfonamide, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• If you have severe kidney disease
• if you have severe liver disease or suffer from a condition called hepatic encephalopathy (liver problems affecting the brain and central nervous system)
• If you have low levels of potassium in your blood (hypokalemia)

Warnings and precautions:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking indapamide:
• If you suffer from gout or diabetes
• If you have kidney problems
• If you suffer from an overactive thyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism)
• If you suffer from heart rhythm problems
• If you have liver problems
• If you suffer from decreased vision or eye pain
• If you have previously had an allergy to penicillin or sulfonamide
• If you are an athlete, this may result in a positive reaction on doping tests.

• Angioedema and/or urticaria
