What is Triprolidine / Pseudoephedrine / Guaifenesin used for?
Triprolidine / Pseudoephedrine / Guaifenesin is a medicine used to relieve productive cough and symptoms of colds, flu, and allergies, including sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, nasal congestion, and blocked sinuses.
The syrup contains:
• Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, a decongestant that relieves nasal and sinus congestion.
• Triprolidine hydrochloride, an antihistamine that helps stop sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.
• Guaifenesin, an expectorant used to loosen mucus and facilitate its release.
This medicine is for adults and children over 6 years of age.
Do not take this medicine:
• If you have ever had a bad reaction to any of the ingredients.
• If you have high blood pressure or heart disease.
• If you have diabetes.
Warnings and Precautions
Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including:
• If you have kidney or liver problems.
• If you are an alcoholic.
• If you have bronchitis, emphysema, or asthma.
• If you are at risk for glaucoma.
• If you have blocked arteries or veins.
• If you are being treated for a thyroid disorder.
• If you have prostate problems.
Possible Side Effects
Like all medicines, Triprolidine/Pseudoephedrine/Guaifenesin can have side effects, although not everybody gets them. If you experience any of the following, stop taking this medicine and seek medical help immediately: severe allergic reactions, hallucinations, delusions or paranoid episodes, sudden onset of fever. Other side effects include:
• Headache
• Difficulty sleeping, nervousness, and dizziness
• Difficulty performing tasks
• Drowsiness
• Blurred vision
• Thick mucus, dry mouth, or nausea
• Confusion or depression
• Tremors, slurred speech, or slurred speech
• Low blood pressure
• Heart attack
• Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet
• High blood pressure
• Nosebleeds, dry nose, or dry throat
• Stomach pain or vomiting
• Pain when urinating, which contains water
• Reduced blood flow to the optic nerve
Other medications and Triprolidine/Pseudoephedrine/Guaifenesin
Do not take this medication if you are taking any other medications, including those used to treat:
• Sleep disturbances
• Pain
• Mood disorders
• Anxiety and tension
• Cramps or spasms
• Heart palpitations or contractions
• Migraine
• Contractions during labor
How to take Triprolidine/Pseudoephedrine/Guaifenesin
Children 6 to 12 years: 5 ml up to 4 times a day.
Adults and children 12 years and over: 10 ml up to 4 times a day.
How to store Triprolidine/Pseudoephedrine/Guaifenesin
• Store below 25°C.
• Store in the original package to protect from light and moisture.
• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date shown on the package.
• Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help protect the environment.
