1. What is this preparation and what are the indications for its use:
The active substance in Omnic Ocas is tamsulosin. It is a type 1A/D1 alpha-adrenergic agonist. The drug reduces smooth muscle tone in the prostate and urethra, allowing urine to pass more easily through the urethra and making urination easier. It also reduces the sensation of urgency to urinate.
Omnic Ocas is used in men to treat complaints of the lower urethra associated with an enlarged prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia). These complaints may include difficulty urinating (poor flow of urine), dribbling, urgency to urinate and having to urinate frequently day and night.
