2. How to use Nolpaza 20mg

  • Gastroesophageal reflux syndrome: Usual dose: 20-40 mg x 1 time/day for 4 weeks, can be extended to 8 weeks. Maintenance dose: 20-40 mg per day. In case of recurrence: 20 mg/day.
  • Gastrointestinal ulcers: Usual dose: 40 mg x 1 time/day.
  • Treatment of Helicobacter pylori: Use a 1-week triple combination therapy regimen: Pantoprazole 40 mg x 2 times/day combined with clarithromycin 500 mg x 2times/day, amoxicillin 1 g x 2 times/day or metronidazole 400 mg x 2 times/day.
  • Prevention of gastrointestinal ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): 20 mg/day.
  • Zollinger - Ellison syndrome: Starting dose: 80 mg/day. You can use doses up to 240 mg/day. If you use more than 80 mg/day, it should be divided into 2 times.

3. Side effects of Nolpaza 20mg

Some common side effects of Nolpaza 20mg include: fatigue, headache, rash, hives, muscle pain, joint pain... Rare side effects include weakness, dizziness, vertigo, itching, increased liver enzymes.

4. Precautions when using Nolpaza 20mg

To use the medication safely, patients need to note the following:

  • Using proton pump inhibitors, especially when used in high doses and for a long time, can slightly increase the risk of hip, wrist, and spine fractures, mainly in the elderly or people with other risk factors. Studies show that proton pump inhibitors increase the risk of fractures by 10 to 40%.
  • Patients at risk of osteoporosis should be monitored and have adequate vitamin D and calcium supplementation.
  • There have been reports of severe hypomagnesemia in patients treated with proton pump inhibitors for at least 3 months and, in most cases, for about 1 year. Symptoms of severe hypomagnesemia include fatigue, muscle cramps, delirium, seizures, dizziness, and ventricular arrhythmias, but these symptoms may occur insidiously. In most patients with hypomagnesemia, improvement occurs after magnesium supplementation and discontinuation of the medication. Serum magnesium levels should be measured before and during treatment in patients requiring long-term treatment or taking proton pump inhibitors concomitantly with digoxin or medications that cause hypomagnesemia (e.g: diuretics).
  • Malignant peptic ulceration should be excluded before administering pantoprazole, as it may mask symptoms.
  • Mild and transient serum ALT (SGPT) elevations have been reported with oral pantoprazole.
  • Pantoprazole may cause cyanocobalamin malabsorption, which may be due to hypochlorhydria or achlorhydria associated with long-term acid-suppressive therapy.
  • The safety and efficacy of pantoprazole in children under 18 years of age have not been established.
  • Pregnancy: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of pantoprazole in pregnant women. Only use when needed.
  • Breastfeeding women: pantoprazole can be excreted in breast milk, so stop breastfeeding or stop using the medication in this subject.
