Fluconazole is used to treat fungal infections of the genitals, mouth and throat, urinary tract, skin and nails, and internal infections.
The scientific name Fluconazole Fluconazole is a triazole derivative with broad spectrum antifungal activity that is well absorbed and passes easily through the blood and brain barrier of the cerebrospinal fluid. The principle of action of fluconazole is to inhibit the manufacture of ergosterol, thus damaging the fungal cellular membrane and inhibiting the construction of the fungi’s cell membrane, thus the fungi die.
 
Do not take fluconazole:
If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
If you are taking any of the following drugs: astemizole, cisapride, erythromycin, olaparib, pimozide, quinidine or terfenadine.
 
Warnings and precautions:
Tell your doctor about all of your health conditions, including, if you have:
If you suffer from liver or kidney problems.
If you have heart disease, including heart rhythm problems.
If you have abnormal levels of potassium, calcium or magnesium in your blood.
In rare cases, this drug may cause serious liver problems.
 
Possible side effects:
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; Itch; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or speaking; Unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency with which these side effects occur is unknown.
 
Serious side effects:
liver damage;
Arrhythmia.
seizures;
 
Very common side effects (may affect more than 1 in 10 people)

Take this drug as directed by your doctor.
For genital infections, the recommended dose is 150 mg as a single dose.
For oral and throat infections, the recommended dose is 200 mg on the first day, then 100 mg once daily.
For meningitis (swelling in the brain due to an infection), the recommended dose is 400 mg on the first day and then 200 mg to 400 mg once daily.
For internal fungal infections, the recommended dose is 800 mg on the first day and then 400 mg once daily.
For skin and nail infections, the recommended dose is 50 mg once daily, 150 mg once weekly, or 300 to 400 mg once weekly depending on the site of the infection.
 
How to store fluconazole:
Store at room temperature from 68 to 77 degrees F (20 to 25 degrees C).
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton.
