What is Betamethasone Dipropionate/Salicylic Acid and What is it Used For:
This product contains two active ingredients: betamethasone dipropionate and salicylic acid.Betamethasone dipropionate belongs to a class of medications known as topical corticosteroids, which work to reduce inflammation, itching, and redness of the skin.Salicylic acid works by softening the top layer of scabs on the skin's surface, allowing betamethasone dipropionate to reach the affected skin beneath the scabs to help heal the skin condition. This product is used to treat adults and children with skin conditions that involve a layer of scabs covering the affected skin.This product will help reduce the itching and redness of your skin and remove the scabs.
Do not use betamethasone dipropionate/salicylic acid:
If you are allergic to betamethasone dipropionate, salicylic acid, or any of the ingredients in this product.
If the package is torn or tampered with.
If the expiration date on the carton has passed.
If you experience an allergic reaction or skin irritation when using this ointment.
If you have other skin problems (such as genital itching, cold sores, shingles, chicken pox, acne, diaper rash, perioral dermatitis, other skin infections, or rosacea (a skin condition affecting the face). Using this medication for other skin conditions may worsen your condition.
Warnings and Precautions:
Stop taking this medication immediately and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any allergic reaction or skin reactions to any of the ingredients in this ointment, such as skin itching, redness, shortness of breath, rash, swelling of the face or neck, low blood pressure, or dizziness.
This medication is for external topical use only. Do not swallow this product.
Avoid contact of the ointment with the lips, eyes, mouth, and sensitive areas of the neck and corners of the nose to avoid irritation.
In case of accidental contact, be sure to rinse the area thoroughly with warm water and then dry it.
Be sure to tell your doctor if you have psoriasis before using this medication. Your doctor may recommend regular follow-up visits to evaluate your psoriasis.
Contact your doctor if you have psoriasis and your skin condition worsens or if pus-filled bumps appear under the skin.
Speak to your doctor immediately if you or your child experiences any vision problems (such as blurred vision).
Be sure not to smoke or go near open flames to avoid the risk of severe burns.
Fabric (such as bedding, clothing, and bandages) that comes into contact with this ointment burns more easily and poses a serious fire hazard. Washing the fabric may reduce product buildup but does not completely remove it. Side effects that may occur when using oral or inhaled corticosteroids may also occur with topical corticosteroids.
These side effects are more likely to occur in infants and children.
Do not cover the applied ointment with bandages or plasters.
Possible side effects:
Possible side effects include allergic skin reactions (such as rash or itching), skin redness, stinging or burning, peeling, itching, thinning of the skin, red marks, swelling, and rash, blurred vision, dry skin, excessive hair growth, allergic skin reactions, inflammation of hair follicles, darkening of the skin, other skin infections, and perioral dermatitis.
Other medications and betamethasone dipropionate/salicylic acid:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have recently used, are using, or might use any other medications, including topical products.
How to use betamethasone dipropionate/salicylic acid:
Adults
Apply a thin layer of ointment and gently massage it into the affected area and surrounding skin twice a day (morning and evening).
Children
The recommended dose is the same as for adults. Using the wrong amount of this medicine or using it for a long time may cause changes in your child's hormones, which can rarely cause a round or sunken face, delayed growth, and pressure buildup in the brain, leading to a bulging fontanel (the soft spot at the top of the skull) in infants, as well as persistent headaches and vision problems (such as blurred vision). If using this ointment in children, be sure not to use it for more than 5 days.
Directions for use:
Wash your hands before and after using the ointment.
Be sure to replace the cap on the tube after using the ointment to avoid leakage.
Be sure to follow the instructions in this leaflet unless your doctor or pharmacist recommends otherwise. Ask your pharmacist or doctor if you are not sure. Make sure to keep the ointment away from your eyes.
Be sure not to apply the ointment under a bandage, plaster, or your child's diaper to prevent excessive absorption of the medicine and subsequent unwanted side effects.
Do not apply a large amount of this ointment to large areas of the body for a long period of time (for example, every day for several weeks or months).
Do not use this ointment on your face for more than 5 days.
Do not use this ointment on skin wounds, large areas of skin, or in skin folds (such as the back of the knee).
How to store Betamethasone Dipropionate/Salicylic Acid:
Keep this medicine out of the reach and sight of children and pets.
Store in a dry place below 25°C.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the ointment.
Keep this medicine in its original packaging to protect it from moisture and light.
Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater or household waste.
