What is Ketoprofen and what is it used for?

Ketoprofen is an anti-inflammatory drug for adults and children 15 years and older.
For the long-term treatment of:
Certain chronic rheumatic inflammations
Certain severe arthritis.
For the short-term treatment of:
Certain inflammations around joints (tendonitis, bursitis, acute shoulder pain)
Certain arthritis with crystal deposition, such as gout
Acute arthritis pain
Acute low back pain
Acute pain associated with nerve irritation

Do not take Ketoprofen:

After 5 months of pregnancy
Hypersensitivity to Ketoprofen
A history of asthma caused by the use of Ketoprofen or substances with similar activity, such as other NSAIDs or aspirin
Gastrointestinal bleeding, cerebrovascular bleeding, or other advanced bleeding
Development of a gastric or intestinal ulcer
Severe hepatic impairment
Severe renal impairment
Severe uncontrolled heart failure. Do not take ketoprofen if any of the above apply to you.

Warnings and Precautions:

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If you have asthma with chronic rhinitis or sinusitis when taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.

If you have a history of liver, heart, or kidney problems.

If you have high blood pressure.

Possible side effects:

Skin reactions (rash, itching)

Certain medicines such as ACE inhibitors (perindopril, lisinopril), other NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac), heparin, ciclosporin, tacrolimus, trimethoprim, as they may cause an increase in blood potassium levels.

There are many substances that interact with antiplatelet drugs: aspirin, NSAIDs, ticlopidine, clopidogrel, and tyropropan.
The use of several antiplatelet agents increases the risk of bleeding.
Lithium: Increased toxicity when taken together.
Methotrexate: Increased toxicity when taken together.

How to take Ketoprofen:

Adults and children over 15 years of age: The recommended initial dose is twice a day.
Ketoprofen tablets should be taken after a full meal.
Separate them from antacids or gastric secretion inhibitors.
Can be taken at any time of day.
Do not break the tablet in half.

How to store Ketoprofen:

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the carton and on the blister after EXP.
The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not store above 30°C in a dry place.
Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater or household waste.
