First-degree burns: These burns involve only the top layer of skin, are mild in origin, and usually heal quickly (such as sunburn).
Beta-Sitosterol 0.25% Ointment
What is Beta-Sitosterol used for?
This product is used for the following indications:
Second-degree burns: These are superficial and deeper burns that may not require skin grafting (removing skin from one area to the affected area) if properly treated with this medicine.
Third-degree burns (burns affecting the deeper layers of skin, sometimes reaching tendons, bones, and muscles): To reduce the painful area of skin and prepare it for non-surgical debridement and grafting.
To reduce pain in the donor area (the area of skin from which a strip of your skin is taken for grafting and used in the affected area) and to control the risk of infection at this site, promoting skin healing.
Surgical wounds, including obstetric wounds (resulting from childbirth and related operations).
Chronic wounds such as diabetic foot, leg ulcers, and pressure sores.
Procedures such as chemical peels, dermabrasion (a resurfacing technique), and laser resurfacing.
Circumcision wounds.
Cracked nipples or heels.
Mucous membrane wounds such as mouth ulcers.
Do not use beta-sitosterol:
If you are allergic to beta-sitosterol (very rare), sesame oil, or any of the ingredients in this product.
Warnings and Precautions:
Stop taking this medicine immediately and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any allergic or skin reactions to any of the ingredients in this gel, such as skin itching, redness, shortness of breath, rash, swelling of the face or neck, low blood pressure, or dizziness.
This medicine is for external topical use only. Do not swallow this product.
Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, and do not use it for other purposes.
Do not repeat the same prescription without first consulting your doctor.
Possible Side Effects:
This product is made from a natural herbal source and is edible. No unwanted side effects have been reported from the use of this product, except for rare reports of allergic reactions to the sesame oil contained in this product.
Stop using this product and contact your healthcare provider if you experience any allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, red, swollen, blistering, or peeling skin, wheezing, difficulty breathing, or chest tightness.
Other Medications and Beta-Sitosterol:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have recently used, are using, or might use any other medications, including topical products.
How to Use Beta-Sitosterol:
First-Degree Burns (Superficial Burns)
Apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected skin area as soon as possible. Leave the affected area uncovered.
If the area needs to be covered, you may use a light bandage.
Reapply the ointment 3 to 4 times daily if the burned area is not covered and twice daily if the burned area is covered.
Second-Degree Burns
Phase 1 (Bleeding Period):
Apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected skin area as soon as possible.Leave the affected area uncovered. If coverage is needed, you can use a light bandage.Repeat the ointment 3 to 4 times daily if the burned area is not covered, and twice daily (applying a thicker layer of ointment) if the burned area is covered.Be sure to wipe away any liquefied dead tissue before reapplying the ointment.
Phase 2 (Repairing Period):
The ointment should be applied as before, but less frequently; 2 to 3 times daily.
Phase 3 (Rehabilitation Period):
The ointment should be applied as before, but less frequently; once daily.
Third-Degree Burns
Apply the ointment as directed for second-degree burns during the bleeding phase; apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected skin area as soon as possible, reapplying it 3 to 4 times daily.
Donor Area
Apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected skin. Repeat the application 3 to 4 times daily if the burned area is not covered and twice daily if the burned area is covered.
Leg Ulcers
Soak a sterile gauze pad with the ointment, ensuring it completely fills the ulcer cavity and reapply it twice daily.
Cracked Nipples
Apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected nipple under a light pad. Reapply the ointment 3 to 4 times daily. This medication is safe for your baby if you are breastfeeding.
How to Store Beta-Sitosterol:
Keep this medication out of reach of children and pets.
Store below 25°C.
The appearance of this medication may change when stored in hot weather, but this does not affect its effectiveness.
Do not dispose of medications via wastewater or household waste.
