What is Tracon and what is it used for?
Tracon is an azole antifungal, mainly used to treat nail fungus.
In addition itraconazole is used to treat the following fungal infections when they are thought to be potentially sensitive:
Vulvovaginal candidiasis.
Oral candidiasis.
 
Do not take itraconazole:
Hypersensitivity to itraconazole
you have heart problems (congestive heart problems)
 
What Are Warnings and Precautions for Tracon Capsules?
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Tracon capsules to monitor:
If you have a history of heart problems
If you have liver problems
If you know low stomach acid
Tracon capsules and oral solution should not be used interchangeably
 
Possible side effects:
Headache
fatigue
nausea
 
Other medicines and Tracon pills:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist before using Tracon about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
Do not use these medicines while taking Tracon due to increased toxicity: cisapride, midazolam, nisoldipine, felodipine, pimozide, quinidine, dofetilide, triazolam, methadone and levacetylmethadol.
Do not take lovastatin, simvastatin, or any HMG CoA reductase inhibitor (ie a statin) with itraconazole.
Do not take ergot alkaloids that are metabolized by CYP3A4 such as dihydroergotamine, ergometrine (ergonovine), ergotamine, and methylergometrine (methylergonovine) with itraconazole.
 
How do you take Tracon?
Adults over 18 years of age: Tracon should be taken at the usual dose for fungal nail disease only:
2 courses of treatment, each consisting of 200 mg (2 capsules) twice a day (400 mg/day) for one week. The separation is for 3 weeks without Tracon.
 
How should I take Tracon?
Tracon capsules should be taken after a full meal
Separate it from taking it with antacids or gastric secretion inhibitors.
Tracon can be taken at any time of the day
Do not break the capsule in half
 
How should Tracon be stored?
Keep Tracon out of the sight and reach of children.
Store Tracon at room temperature [77°F (25°C)].
Do not store above 30 degrees.
