Zinc oxide is used to treat or prevent minor skin irritations such as burns, cuts, poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, and diaper rash. It is also used as a sunscreen

 

 

 

 

Dosage and method of use

Apply a thin layer topically every 8 hours. Change wet and dirty diapers immediately, clean the diaper area and let it dry. Apply the ointment liberally as often as necessary, with each diaper change, especially at bedtime or any time when exposure to wet diapers may be prolonged.

 

 

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation

 

 

Zinc oxide side effects

Usually well tolerated. Very low frequency of hypersensitivity reaction

 

 

 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

This medication should be used with precautions only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breastfeeding

 

 

 

Precautions and warnings

For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Stop use and ask a doctor if condition worsens or does not improve within 7 days. Keep out of the reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a poison control center right away

 

 

 

Effects of overdose

No problems related to overdose have been reported
