What is polyvinyl alcohol/povidone and what is it used for?
Polyvinyl alcohol/povidone is an ophthalmic solution used to relieve the symptoms of dry, irritated eyes and dry eye symptoms.
It can also be used as a comfort drop while wearing hard or soft contact lenses.
Do not use polyvinyl alcohol/povidone:
• If you are hypersensitive to polyvinyl alcohol, povidone, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Warnings and Precautions:
• If eye irritation, eye pain, redness, or changes in vision persist, worsen, increase, or persist for more than 24 hours, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider.
• If the solution changes color or becomes cloudy, discontinue use.
Possible Side Effects of Polyvinyl Alcohol/Povidone
The following symptoms may occur:
Eye Disorders
• Eye Irritation
• Eye Pain
• Eye Discharge
• Itching
• Redness
• Sensation of Something in the Eye
• Increased Tearing
• Blurred Vision
Immune System Disorders
• Hypersensitivity
• Allergic Reaction
Other Medications and Polyvinyl Alcohol/Povidone:
If you are using Polyvinyl Alcohol/Povidone with another ophthalmic medication, leave at least 15 minutes between applying the Polyvinyl Alcohol/Povidone and the other medication.
How to Use Polyvinyl Alcohol/Povidone:
The usual dose is one or two drops in each eye as needed.
• Check that the container is intact before use.
• To open, twist the tab.
• Put one or two drops in each eye as needed or as directed.
There is no specific dosage schedule for the elderly or children.
• To avoid contamination, do not allow the dropper to touch the eye or any other surface.
• Use immediately after opening.
• Do not store the opened container.
• Discard after use.
How to store polyvinyl alcohol/povidone:
• Store the unopened container below 25°C.
• Store all medicines out of the reach of children.
• Do not use after the expiry date shown on the label/carton.
