Product Description:

 

Co-amoxiclav 400/57mg/5ml Powder for Oral Suspension is used to treat the following infections in adults and children:



    • Acute bacterial sinusitis (adequately diagnosed)

 

    • acute otitis media

 

    • Acute attacks of chronic bronchitis (adequately diagnosed)

 

    • community-acquired pneumonia

 

    • cystitis

 

    • pyelonephritis

 

    • Skin and soft tissue infections, especially cellulitis, animal bites, acute dental abscess with disseminated cellulitis.

 

    • Bone and joint infections.



Instructions for use:



    • For adults and children ≥ 40 kg, this formulation of Co-amoxiclav 400/57mg/5ml powder for oral suspension provides a total daily dose of 1750 mg amoxicillin/250 mg clavulanic acid twice daily and 2625 mg amoxicillin/375 mg clavulanic acid three times daily, when taken as recommended below.

 

    • For children under 40 kg, this formulation of Co-amoxiclav 400/57mg/5ml powder for oral suspension provides a maximum daily dose of 1000-2800 mg amoxicillin/143-400 mg clavulanic acid, when taken as recommended below.

 

    • If a higher daily dose of amoxicillin is required, it is recommended that another preparation of Co-amoxiclav 400/57mg/5ml powder for oral suspension be chosen to avoid administering unnecessarily high daily doses of clavulanic acid.

 

    • The duration of treatment should be determined by the patient's response.

 

    • Some types of infections (such as osteomyelitis) require longer periods of treatment.

 

    • Treatment should not be extended for more than 14 days without review.



Warnings and precautions :



    • Before taking this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to amoxicillin or clavulanic acid; or to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics; or if you have any other allergies.

 

    • This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

 

    • For more information, talk to your pharmacist.

 

    • Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease (including liver problems caused by previous use of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid), kidney disease (such as requiring dialysis), a certain type of viral infection (infectious mononucleosis).

 

    • Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).

 

    • This product may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine) to not work as well.

 

    • Do not have any immunizations/vaccinations while using this medication unless your doctor tells you to.

 

    • During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed.

 

    • Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

 

    • This medicine passes into breast milk.

 

    • Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.



Side effects :

 

Stop using this medicine and contact your doctor right away if you have serious side effects such as :



    • watery or bloody diarrhea;

 

    • Pale or yellowing skin, dark urine, fever, confusion, or weakness.

 

    • Bruising or bleeding easily.

 

    • Skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness.

 

    • Agitation, confusion, unusual thoughts or behavior, seizure (convulsions);

 

    • Nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or

 

    • Severe skin reaction - fever, sore throat, swelling of your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially on the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.



Less serious side effects may include :



    • Mild diarrhea, gas, and stomach pain.

 

    • nausea or vomiting;

 

    • headache;

 

    • Rash or itching.

 

    • White patches in your mouth or throat. Or

 

  • Vaginal yeast infection (itching or discharge).
