What is loxoprofen sodium hydrate and what is it used for?
Loxoprofen is an anti-inflammatory drug in the propionic acid derivatives group, which also includes ibuprofen, naproxen, and others.
Loxoprofen 60 mg Tablets
It is used:
• To relieve inflammation and pain in the following disorders and symptoms: rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, low back pain, periarthritis, shoulder-arm-neck syndrome, and toothache.
• To relieve pain and inflammation following surgery, trauma, or toothache.
• To relieve pain in the following disorders: acute upper respiratory tract infections, airway infections (including acute bronchitis and concomitant acute bronchitis).
Do not take loxoprofen sodium hydrate
Do not take loxoprofen if you have:
• Peptic ulcer
• Severe blood disorders
• Severe liver dysfunction
• Severe renal impairment [adverse reactions such as acute renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, etc. have been reported]
• Severe heart failure [cardiac symptoms may worsen because inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis in the kidneys may cause edema and increased body fluid volume, with consequent increased cardiac workload.]
• A history of hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients
• A history of aspirin-induced asthma (NSAID-induced asthma attack, etc.)
Warnings and Precautions:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you:
• Have a history of peptic ulcers
• Have a history of blood disorders [because adverse reactions such as hemolytic anemia are likely to occur.]
• Have a history of liver function disorders
• Have a history of renal impairment
• Have a history of hypersensitivity
• Have bronchial asthma [where the condition may be exacerbated.]
• Have ulcerative colitis [where the condition may be exacerbated.]
• Have Crohn's disease [where the condition may be exacerbated.]

Major adverse reactions
• Shock and anaphylactic symptoms: Shock and anaphylactic symptoms have been reported. When using this medication, patients should be carefully monitored during treatment.
• Hemolytic anemia, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia
• Acute renal failure, nephrotic syndrome
• Interstitial nephritis
• Liver dysfunction and jaundice
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Gastrointestinal perforation
• Congestive heart failure
• Asthma attack
Other medications and loxoprofen sodium hydrate
Many medications can interact with this medication, significantly altering their effects. These medications include:
• Coumarin anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin)
• Sulfonylurea antihyperglycemic agents (e.g., tolbutamide)
• New quinolone antimicrobial agents, e.g., enoxacin hydrate
• Methotrexate
• Lithium preparations (e.g., lithium carbonate)
• Thiazide diuretics (e.g., hydroflumethiazide, hydrochlorothiazide)
How to take loxoprofen sodium hydrate:
For rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and for the relief of post-operative, post-traumatic, or post-dental pain and inflammation: The usual adult dose is 60 mg of loxoprofen sodium (as the anhydride) orally three times a day.
For acute upper respiratory tract infections and respiratory tract infections, the usual adult dose is 60 mg of loxoprofen sodium (as the anhydride) orally once a day. The dose may be adjusted according to the patient's age and symptoms. In principle, the maximum recommended daily dose of this medication is twice a day, and the total daily dose should not exceed 180 mg/day.
This medication should be avoided on an empty stomach.
How to store loxoprofen sodium hydrate:
Keep this medication out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
