Miconazole nitrate 400 mg vaginal suppositories.
What miconazole nitrate is used for:
This medication is used to treat vaginal yeast infections.
Miconazole reduces vaginal burning, itching, and discharge that may occur with this condition.
This medication is an azole antifungal.
It works by stopping the growth of the fungus causing the infection.
Do not use miconazole nitrate if you are allergic to the active substance, any other ingredient of this medicine, or any other antifungal medicine.
Warnings and precautions:
If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine:
diabetic.
Recurrent vaginal yeast infections (more than 3 in 6 months or 4 in 1 year).
Do not use tampons, douches, spermicides, or other vaginal products while using this medicine.
Unscented sanitary pads can be used during menstruation or to protect your clothes from medication leakage.
Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve after 3 days or lasts more than 7 days.
Tell your doctor if the infection returns within 2 months.
You may need a different or additional medication to treat your condition.
Possible side effects:
Headache or burning in the vagina/urethra/itching/pain or cramps in the lower abdomen may occur.
If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
If your doctor orders you to use this medication, remember that your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.
Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
A very serious allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.
Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include:
rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
Other medicines and miconazole nitrate:
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, especially:
Blood thinners such as warfarin.
Medicines for diabetes.
Heart medications called calcium channel blockers.
phenytoin;
Statins used to lower cholesterol levels.
Instructions for use:
This product is for vaginal use only.
Wash hands before and after use.
Avoid contact of this product with your eyes.
If it comes into contact with your eyes, wash them immediately with plenty of water.
The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Use the medication usually once daily at bedtime for 1 to 7 nights, as directed by your doctor.
If using the vaginal suppository, you can use your finger to insert the suppository.
Unwrap the suppository before use.
Follow the package instructions on how to fill the solution with vaginal suppositories.
Lie on your back with your knees facing your chest.
Insert the tablet into the vagina as far as it can comfortably fit.
How to store miconazole nitrate:
Store at room temperature (20 to 25°C).
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the package.
The expiration date refers to the last day of the same month.
