Guavan syrup 100 mg/5 ml oral syrup contains guaifenesin, which is a type of medicine called an expectorant. It helps loosen chest secretions by loosening cough and phlegm (mucus), making the coughing more mucus-producing. The medicine is for use in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over.
 
2. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT:
Do not take guavane syrup if: you are allergic to guaifenesin or any of the other ingredients (see sections 6 and 2).
 
Warnings and precautions:
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine in the following cases:
If you have had a cough for more than 7 days or if it recurs or is accompanied by fever, rash or persistent headache.
If you have a persistent cough, which may be caused by asthma.
If you have a cough with a lot of mucus (phlegm)
If you have liver or kidney problems.

Interference with laboratory tests:
If you are having a urine test it is important that you tell your doctor or nurse that you are taking, or have recently taken, this medicine because it can affect some results.
 
Taking other medicines:
Always tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, or have recently taken, any other medicine, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
It is not recommended to take this medicine with other cough medicines intended to stop coughing (or cough suppressants) because they may interfere with the action of this medicine.
 
Taking with food or drink:
You can take guava syrup with or without food or drink.
 
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, tell your doctor or pharmacist. Guavan syrup should not be used during pregnancy unless advised by your doctor.
It is not recommended to take this medicine if you are breast-feeding a baby until you have consulted your doctor or pharmacist.
 
Driving and using guava syrup 100mg/5ml:
It is not expected to affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you feel unwell, do not drive or use machinery.

This medicine is for oral use only.
Do not use more than the dose specified below.
 
Dosage age for adults and adolescents over 12 years:
Take two 5ml spoonfuls (10ml) 4 times a day.
Older adults: Same dose for adults and children under 12 years old.
Do not give to patients with kidney or liver problems.
 
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist:
If anyone has taken an overdose of guava syrup, contact a doctor or the nearest accident and emergency center and take this leaflet with you.
Do not take more than 4 doses (40 mL) in 24 hours.
Call a doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve within 7 days.
If you have taken an overdose of this medicine
Taking too much of this medicine may lead to the formation of kidney stones.
 
Symptoms may include:
upset stomach, nausea, drowsiness;
If you forget to take this medicine:
Always take this medicine exactly as indicated in the method of administration.
If you miss a dose, take the next dose as needed.
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
Do not take more than 4 doses (40 mL) in 24 hours.
