It is used in adults (18 years and older). Dapagliflozin is used for a type of diabetes called type 2 diabetes in which your body doesn't produce enough insulin or can't use the insulin it produces properly. This leads to high blood sugar.

What is dapagliflozin used for?
Do not use dapagliflozin:
If you are allergic to dapagliflozin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Warnings and Precautions:
Call your doctor or nearest hospital immediately:
• If you experience nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, extreme thirst, rapid and deep breathing, confusion, unusual drowsiness or fatigue, a sweet odor to your breath, a sweet or metallic taste in your mouth, a different odor from your urine or sweat, or rapid weight loss.
• The above symptoms could be a sign of diabetic ketoacidosis—a serious, sometimes life-threatening condition that can lead to diabetes due to increased levels of ketone bodies in your urine or blood, which show up in blood tests.
• The risk of diabetic ketoacidosis may increase with prolonged fasting, excessive alcohol consumption, dehydration, a sudden reduction in your insulin dose, or an increased need for insulin due to major surgery or a serious illness.
• When you are treated with dapagliflozin, diabetic ketoacidosis can occur even if your blood sugar is normal.
If you suspect you have diabetic ketoacidosis, Contact a doctor or the nearest hospital immediately and do not take this medicine.
Possible side effects:
Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience tightness in the throat, swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing. Stop using the product if you experience hives or itching of the face or body.
Other medicines and dapagliflozin:
Tell your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.
In particular, tell your doctor:
• If you are taking a medicine used to remove water from the body (a diuretic). Your doctor may ask you to stop taking dapagliflozin.
• If you have type 2 diabetes and are taking other medicines that lower blood sugar, such as insulin or a sulfonylurea. Your doctor may want to lower the dose of these other medications to prevent low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia).
How to use dapagliflozin:
How much to take:
• If you are taking dapagliflozin for type 2 diabetes:
• The recommended dose is one 10 mg tablet every day.
• Your doctor may start you on a 5 mg dose if you have liver problems.
• Your doctor will prescribe the right strength for you.
Taking this medicine:
• Swallow the tablet whole with half a glass of water.
• You can take your tablet with or without food.
• You can take the tablet at any time of day. However, try to take it at the same time each day. This will help you remember to take it.
How to store dapagliflozin:
• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date, which is printed on the blister or carton after "EXP." The expiration date refers to the last day of that month.
• This medication does not require any special storage conditions.
• Do not dispose of medications in wastewater or household waste.
