What is Chlorpheniramine Maleate/Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride/Dextromethorphan used for?
Do not take Chlorpheniramine Maleate/Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride/Dextromethorphan.
• If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• If you have closed-angle glaucoma.
• If you have been taking antidepressants, certain drugs for Parkinson's disease, or monoamine oxidase inhibitors for at least two weeks.
• If you have severe high blood pressure or heart failure.
• If you have a cough with a lot of mucus, a long-term cough due to smoking, or if you have lung problems such as asthma or emphysema.
Warnings and Precautions
Ask your doctor before taking this medicine if you have any of the following:
• Liver or kidney disease.
• Asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
• Weak thyroid.
• Enlarged prostate.
• Urinary tract problems.
• Cardiovascular problems such as high blood pressure and coronary artery disease.
• Diabetes.
Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine.
Possible Side Effects
Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience tightness in the throat, swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing. Stop using the product if you experience hives or itching of the face or body.
Side effects you may experience include drowsiness, gastrointestinal disturbances, nausea, vomiting, headache, dry mouth, sleep disturbances, and skin rash. Urinary retention may occasionally occur in patients with an enlarged prostate.
Other Medications and Chlorpheniramine Maleate/Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride/Dextromethorphan
• Tell your doctor about all the medications you take.
• This medication interacts with medications for anxiety, depression, and Parkinson's disease, as well as with other sedatives and antihistamines, including cough and cold products.
How to Take Chlorpheniramine Maleate/Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride/Dextromethorphan
• For use only in adults and children 6 years of age and older.
• Take this medication with or without food. Take it with food if it causes stomach upset.
• Use the measuring device provided with this medication to measure the dose. If the device is not available, ask your pharmacist.
• For adults and children over 12 years: Take 10 mL every 6-8 hours. Do not exceed 40 mL in 24 hours.
• For children 6-12 years: Take 5 mL every 6-8 hours. Do not exceed 20 mL in 24 hours.
How to store Chlorpheniramine Maleate/Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride/Dextromethorphan
• Store this medication at room temperature between 68 and 77°F (20 and 25°C) in a dry place.
• Keep this medication out of reach of children.
• Do not use this medication after the expiration date printed on the carton.
*The dosage form and route of administration of Chlorpheniramine Maleate/Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride/Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 1 mg, 15 mg, or 5 mg/5 ml Syrup should be prescribed according to the therapeutic indication and severity of the disease for each individual patient.
