Mentex syrup is an effective medicine to calm a cough and relieve congestion because it contains:

  • Diphenhydramine chloride: It acts as an antihistamine by blocking the H1 receptors that receive histamine and cause allergic symptoms.
  • Dexamethasone: It is a powerful NSAID to relieve symptoms of inflammation and allergies.
  • Pseudoephedrine: It works as a decongestant because it acts as a vasodilator in the nose and throat.
  • Dextromethorphan: Depresses the cough center and therefore is considered a cough suppressant.

Indications for the use of Mentex syrup:

  • It is used as an analgesic for severe coughs and as a pain reliever.
  • It is used in the treatment of sinus infections as an adjunct therapy, especially in seasonal allergies.
  • Helps relieve symptoms of respiratory diseases such as cold and flu.
  • Helps treat sore throat and pharynx and relieve pain associated with swallowing in such cases.

How to use Mentex syrup:

  • Children"s dose is 2.5 ml every 6 hours.
  • The adult dose is 5 ml every 6 hours.

In the case of chronic diseases such as diabetes or pressure, and because the medicine contains dexamethasone, it is necessary to consult the attending physician to determine the dosage.
