    Hyposic belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. Hyposic pills work by reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces.
    Hyposic is used to treat the following conditions:
    In adults:
    • Gastroesophageal reflux disease, in which stomach acid escapes into the esophagus (the tube that connects your throat to your stomach), causing pain, inflammation and heartburn.
    • Ulcers in the upper part of the intestine or stomach.
    • Ulcers infected with bacteria called "Helicobacter pylori".
    • Ulcers caused by medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Omeprazole can also be used to prevent ulcers from forming if you are taking an NSAID.
    • Increased acidity in the stomach due to the growth of the pancreas (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome).
    In children:
    Children over 1 and 10 kg
    • Gastroesophageal reflux disease in children. Symptoms of the condition can include stomach contents returning to the mouth, vomiting, and poor weight gain.
    Children and adolescents over 4 years old
    • Ulcers infected with bacteria called "Helicobacter pylori".
     
    Do not take Hyposic:
     
    • If you are allergic to omeprazole 20 or any of the other ingredients of Hyposic.

    • You lose a lot of weight for no reason and have trouble swallowing.
    • You suffer from stomach pain or indigestion.
    • You start vomiting food or blood.
    • Black stools (blood-stained stools).
    • If you suffer from severe or persistent diarrhoea.
    • You have serious liver problems.
    • You are scheduled to undergo a specific blood test (chromogranin A).
    Taking a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole 20, especially over more than a year, may slightly increase your risk of a broken hip, wrist, or spine. Tell your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you take corticosteroids (which can increase your risk of osteoporosis).
