What is nepvolol and what is it used for:
It is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure.
Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular diseases, especially strokes and myocardial infarctions.

Do not take nepvolol:
If you are allergic to nepvolol.

Heart block greater than first degree
heart attack
decompensated heart failure
hepatic impairment

Warnings and precautions:
Acute exacerbation of coronary artery disease upon discontinuation of treatment: Do not stop abruptly.
Diabetes: Monitor glucose because beta-blockers may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist of all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
CYP2D6 inhibitors (fluoxetine, bupropion, paroxetine, amiodarone) may increase nebivolol levels.
Reserpine or clonidine may cause an excessive decrease in sympathetic activity.
Digitalis glycosides (digoxin and digitoxin) and beta-blockers slow atrioventricular conduction and reduce heart rate. Using it can increase the risk of bradycardia.
Calcium channel blockers verapamil or diltiazem may cause excessive decreases in heart rate and blood pressure.
Antacids (such as cimetidine), which are used to treat excess stomach acid. If you are being treated for excessive stomach acid, you should take nepvolol during a meal, and the antacid between meals.
Medicines for asthma and medicines for stuffy nose (such as pseudoephedrine) or for certain eye disorders such as glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) or dilated pupils.

How to take nepvolol:
For high blood pressure: Adults over 18 years of age: The recommended dose is 5 mg once daily.
For chronic heart failure: Adults over 18 years of age: The recommended starting dose is 1.25 mg daily.
This can be increased after 1-2 weeks to half a tablet per day (2.5 mg) and then to one tablet per day (5 mg).
May be increased to the maximum recommended dose of 2 tablets per day (10 mg).
You can take it with food or without food.
If you want to increase the dose for a further decrease in blood pressure wait two weeks.
If renal or hepatic insufficiency, the dose is 2.5 mg.
