What are the uses of Olmetec Tabs?
Olmesartan belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. They lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels.
Olmesartan is used to treat high blood pressure in adults, children, and teenagers 6 to less than 18 years old. High blood pressure can damage blood vessels in organs such as the heart, kidneys, brain, and eyes. In some cases, this may lead to a heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, stroke, or blindness. There are usually no symptoms of high blood pressure.

Do not take Olmetec Tabs:
• If you are allergic to olmesartan medoxomil or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• If you suffer from yellowing of the skin and eyes or problems with the drainage of bile from the gallbladder.
• If you suffer from diabetes or impaired kidney function and are being treated with a medicine to lower blood pressure that contains aliskiren.

What are the warnings and precautions for Olmetec Tabs?
Tell your doctor if you have any of the following health problems:
• Kidney problems
• Liver disease
• Heart failure or problems with the heart valves or heart muscle.
• Severe vomiting, diarrhea, treatment with high doses of water tablets or if you are on a low-salt diet.
• Increased potassium levels in the blood.
• Problems with the adrenal glands.

What are the possible side effects of Olmetec Tabs?
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. If they occur, they are often mild and do not require discontinuation of treatment. Although not many people get it, the following side effects can be dangerous: Allergic reactions that may affect the whole body and low blood pressure.

Other side effects include:
Dizziness, headache, nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, stomach pain, gastroenteritis, fatigue, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, bronchitis, flu-like symptoms, cough, pain, pain in the chest, back, bone or joints, urinary tract infection, swollen ankles, feet, legs, hands, or arms, blood in the urine.

• In patients with mild to moderate renal disease, your dose will not exceed 20 mg once a day.
• The tablets can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablets with enough water (eg one glass). If possible, take your daily dose at the same time each day, for example at breakfast time.
• Children and adolescents 6 to under 18 years of age: The recommended starting dose is 10 mg once daily. If the patient"s blood pressure is not adequately controlled, the doctor may decide to change the dose up to 20 or 40 mg once a day.
• In children weighing less than 35 kg, the dose will not exceed 20 mg once a day.
